Company overview
- Full Description
- For three decades, ultrasound has been the world's most-used scan, 800 million exams a year, more than CT and MRI combined, yet stuck doing the wrong job. It's non-ionizing, real-time, already at every bedside, but its image quality was never good enough for anything beyond late-stage disease, so 90% of its potential sat untouched. That just changed. PONS rebuilds ultrasound from the signal up: our physics-based software turns any probe, any vendor, into a diagnostic-grade imaging system, with zero new hardware. Mayo Clinic validated it across 62,000 scans, lifting diagnostic AUC from 0.53 to 0.95. Suddenly the cheapest, most available scan becomes the most diagnostic, expanding our reach from 10 million symptomatic patients to 100 million in preventive screening. Same probe, same sonographer, same workflow, now a screening tool and a data engine for AI. We're not improving ultrasound. We're unlocking the 90% it could never reach.

- Problem Statement
- Ultrasound is cheap, portable, radiation-free, and repeatable. It is the only advanced imaging modality that can plausibly travel to the patient rather than requiring the patient to travel to it. And yet its output depends on who is holding the probe, which machine they are holding, how it is configured, and the patient's body composition. That variability is not fully solvable through training, because a substantial part of it lives in the physics of how sound behaves in tissue.
- Solution Overview
- Our core product, PONS-IES, takes the raw signal from a standard ultrasound machine and reconstructs what the tissue is actually doing to that signal, rather than accepting the manufacturer's default rendering of it. Concretely, the software produces two co-registered representations alongside the original, unaltered B-mode DICOM. The first compensates for how sound energy is absorbed as it travels through tissue, so structures at depth are no longer washed out relative to structures near the probe. The second decomposes the local phase of the signal, which separates true tissue boundaries from speckle noise. Having described what they do, we refer to them as QiUS and EUS for brevity. The original image is always preserved and always available to the reader. We do not replace the clinical image. We add to it.
Product & IP
- Product Description & Features
- We have 4 patents granted and 3 pending patent applications. The technology is physics-guided with AI-optimized parameters. The physics model is fixed and deterministic, the same input produces the same output every time. Machine learning is used offline, during development, to optimize the parameters of that model against ground truth. Nothing about the transform changes at the bedside, which is what makes it auditable in a health system governance review. PONS addresses the existing disparities in ultrasound imaging through a patented image enhancement technology that reveals subtle early-stage tissue morphologies and malignant patterns previously undetectable via conventional clinical ultrasound. Our patented AI-driven tissue characterization system provides comprehensive malignancy risk assessments for early-stage diseases. Furthermore, our technology features the capability to amplify ultrasound data volume by 50x, generating authentic high-resolution imagery from existing scans to optimize AI diagnostic accuracy and facilitate scalable data acquisition for biomarker extraction. By transforming a single scan into high-resolution, AI-ready insight, PONS enables mass-market, precision ultrasound and accelerates the shift toward decentralized, proactive healthcare.

Looking for
- What are you looking for besides funding?
- Beyond capital, we value clinicians and executives who can open doors to key decision-makers who shape purchasing and deployment in healthcare, including health system executives, radiology leadership, population health groups, and care delivery organizations, so we can refine the offering to address actual operational constraints, reimbursement dynamics, and deployment friction. This includes strengthening our business model by proving economic value: reducing downstream follow-ups driven by uncertainty, improving time-to-clarity
